When the earth's tectonic plates collide and crash together over the millennia some of the most precious and beautiful stone is formed. One stone that is created under this heat and pressure is quartzite, which is sandstone and quartz crushed together. From Brazil we get a creamy white and grey quartzite called Taj Mahal and this is the primary influence for our engineered quartz surface.
One of the fascinating features of quartzite is the iron oxide colour that appears in veins and our design team wanted to create a fusion of the natural quartzite grey background, with the iron oxide colouring running across our Mason Quartz surface.
We added our own twist to the pattern by introducing a dappled effect as if the surface has been weathered by rain for centuries, with miniature voids appearing in the rust colour to reveal the grey background.
